A Seychelles giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea), named Jonathan  possibly the oldest living land animal creature and a strong contender for oldest vertebrate, at what is believed to be the age of 182. He now lives on the island of St. Helena, but nobody's really sure how he got there.





A contender for Jonathon's title of oldest land animal would come from the tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus and S. guntheri)is a medium-sized reptile and unique reptile found only in New Zealand. These two species, and possibly other now-extinct species
